The November meeting of the NTRCA held at the Catholic Care Tasmania facilities became a pivotal moment as the group announced its decision to update its Constitution and Statement of Strategic Intent. The move is aimed at aligning the organisation with evolving advocacy requirements and ensuring a more robust framework for its operations.
Representatives from member organisations gathered to deliberate on the proposed amendments, highlighting the commitment of the NTRCA to maintaining the highest standards of care and governance. The revisions are expected to enhance transparency, accountability, and overall effectiveness in advocating for the sector to the community.
During the meeting, the NTRCA also made a delegation to the Department for Education, Children and Young People in Tasmania. The collaborative efforts took centre stage as the NTRCA extended its support to the Department in the reconceptualisation of Residential Care following the Royal Commission of enquiry.
The Royal Commission, which concluded in 2023 year, shed light on critical areas for improvement within the Residential Care system. The NTRCA, acknowledging the importance of addressing the issues raised, expressed its commitment to working closely with the Department to consider necessary changes.
"We see this as an opportunity to contribute to the betterment of the entire care ecosystem. Our collaboration with the Department of Education and Child Safety is a step towards ensuring that the outcomes of the Royal Commission are translated into tangible improvements in the way we provide residential care," stated the spokesperson for NTRCA.
The NTRCA emphasised the need for a comprehensive and inclusive approach, involving stakeholders at every level, to bring about positive changes. The alliance aims to leverage its collective expertise in creating a more responsive and person-centered Residential Care system.
The Department of Education and Child Safety expressed gratitude for the NTRCA's proactive engagement and welcomed the alliance's commitment to collaboration.
As the NTRCA sets out on this journey of governance refinement and collaboration with government agencies, it reinforces its dedication to fostering a culture of continuous improvement in the provision of care services throughout Northern Tasmania.
